Les Card is from Hants County, NS, and has been a paramedic since 2010. Currently at the Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP) level, based out of Kentville, Les holds additional roles, including Field Training Paramedic, alternate Senior Operations Paramedic, and Medical First Responder Facilitator, where he helps MFRs maintain their training. While being a paramedic for 15 years, involvement in emergency services began at the age of 14, when he joined the local volunteer fire department as a junior firefighter. He continues to serve in the fire service as a Captain and MFR in his local department.
Outside work, Les and his wife, Kirstie, enjoy spending time with their three Australian Cattle Dogs, exploring Nova Scotia and occasionally venturing into other provinces. They often take the back roads in their Jeeps to discover hidden sites and lesser-known histories of the province, documenting their adventures on social media platforms like YouTube and Instagram under Cattle Dogs and Co.
At work, Les strives to maintain the excitement and enthusiasm that came with first donning the paramedic uniform. He encourages new professionals in the field to always hold onto the passion they have at the start of their career, quoting a meme that says, "Never forget the time you'd give anything to be where you are right now."
